This section is due an update as we’ve spent a lot of time working on Ecotank models and failed to document much of our knowledge on resolving issues.

This is very much a work in progress as we’ve spent since October 2015 buying in various Ecotank printer models, examining how they’re put together and working out what makes them tick.
While sparse at present this FAQ section will pull together all the different resources available to answer common questions, solve problems and hopefully extend the life of printers that should last few quite some time.
Ink Light Flashing or Solid Red (EcoTank L100 – 300 series, possibly others)
This is a “feature” we’ve become aware of recently but it seems that aside from the known Waste Ink Counter there’s a separate counter in many of the lower end printers where the printer estimates the amount of ink used and will effectively shutdown pending a “service” if the ink tanks are supposedly close to empty.
We’re still trying to nail down exact scenarios when this can happen but the following are being suggested as possible causes:
- The printer has been estimated to have used up all the ink in the reservoirs
- The printer has not run an “Ink Charge”
Symptoms:
- Ink light flashing or message indicting ink is low
- Ink light has gone from flashing to indicating a solid red light and is now refusing to print
Solution #1 – Ink light flashing
- Turn printer on and wait for normal warm up process to complete
- Press and hold the “Info” button for 10 seconds
- Release the button then immediately press and hold for 2 seconds
- Release the button then immediately press and release the button one last time
Note: The release/press is very quick… You literally jab your finger back on the button as soon as you release it to get this to work.
Solution #2 – Ink light solid red
- Turn printer on and wait for normal warm up process to complete
- Press the “Info” button and hold for 30 seconds
- Release the button then immediately press and release the button one last time

Solution #3 – WICReset Utility
The WICReset tool has the functionality to handle this function for some earlier models (not all) so try downloading the latest version from 2manuals.com to see if your model is covered.
Note: No key purchase is currently required for this functionality (nor likely to be required in the future).
Solution #4 – Run an Ink Charge?
This is pure theory but it may be possible to run an ink charge routine when prompted to fill the reservoirs with more ink and this may reset the ink monitoring. It’s an untested idea but may work (feedback welcome!).
One or these solutions should reset the ink levels in the printers memory and clear the error. The printer will then run a basic priming routine and should be up and running again.
