When you pay using a Credit or Debit Card you may be asked to complete an additional step called “Verified by Visa” (VbV) or “3DSecure”.
These services are provided by Visa and MasterCard and are part of the SCA (Strong Customer Authentication) protocol and intended to provide an additional layer of security to stop your card details being used without the card owners knowledge. Basically to stop fraud.
Never Seen This Before?
If you don’t know about these protocols we strongly recommend you contact your bank/card issuer about any steps you need to complete before trying to make payment again.
Security Concerns?
Obviously if you’ve never seen it before it can feel like you’re in the middle of a phishing attack, aimed at getting your personal details.
If you have any concerns talk to your issuing bank before you continue.
Can I Ignore Verified By Visa / 3DSecure And Complete My Transaction?
SCA is becoming increasingly important and a requirement for some countries/banks.
However, please note, both the payment provider and ourselves use additional anti-fraud services and tools to detect problems such as fraudulent orders so you may find your order is put on hold while such checks are carried out.
