This kit is NOT for end-users who have no experience in disassembling electronic devices (such as printers) and definitely not for users who need hand holding. The kit is solely provided for end-users who wish to determine whether a waste kit installation is feasible and are prepared to accept that they may not succeed or have a working printer at the end.

If you are hoping for a miracle, this isn't for you... If you love solving problems, getting your hands covered in "stuff" and eat challenges for breakfast then read on.

 

Printer Potty waste kits rely on the accessibility of the waste ink delivery system and particularly the tube that transports the waste to the porous waste pads. In Epson printers this is relatively easy but Canon printers tend to have a very short waste ink tube that dumps ink directly into the pads almost directly under the printhead resting station. This, coupled with compact designs that cram in circuit boards, and the physical mechanisms of the printer make access to the waste tubes much more difficult.

This is by no means ALL Canon printers but certainly the majority of cartridge fed types (around 97% of the Pixma range).

What this waste kit does is provide a series of components that we've found useful to hook into the waste tubes and route a waste tube out of the printer to an external tank. It contains more parts that are strictly necessary but gives the end-user more options when trying to decide how best to achieve the desired result.

What it does NOT include are instructions on how to complete the fitting process.

If you tackle a Canon printer that is not already documented on support.printerpotty.com and record the process with photos and/or video footage, in a detailed, reproducible manner then we offer a full refund on your kit purchase in return for the rights to host the process you've recorded.

We create guides based on such content and share it on the printerpotty site for other users to benefit from. Attribution and full credit is applied in all cases unless anonimity is specifically requested.

 

Design Features:

  • Tank valve closes automatically when disconnecting from the waste tube
  • A tight liquid proof seal around the fitting stops any leakage
  • Simple to install, easy to maintain.
  • Tanks are all re-usable after emptying
